Hi! Thank you for visiting my website. I’m Tania, a licensed massage therapist in NYC with two decades of experience helping people feel awesome. Through evidence-based practices, I help my clients achieve physical rehabilitation, improved brain-body function, and relief from stress and chronic pain.
Clients come to me because it doesn’t take session upon session to feel results. Together, we get down to the root of an issue so you walk out of one session feeling transformed. Think of me as part of your healthcare team: here to help you understand your body better, answer your questions, and nurture your well-being.
Currently, I also teach the Orthopedic & Sports Pathology and Kinesiology courses at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine-NY campus. I also founded and run Pinpoint Bodywork, an educational resource platform for massage therapists and bodyworkers.
I’ve been studying, practicing, and teaching manual therapy since 1994 and it just-so-happens to run in my family. My great-grandmother, Doña Teresa García Aveiga de Velásquez, was a curandera, a practitioner of Ecuador’s indigenous Quechua healing methods. I like combining her intuitive, meditative approach with my background in Eastern styles and the most current research on touch science. You can find out more about that combination of concepts here.
My clientele includes athletes, creative professionals, and people recovering from trauma. Many have suffered with chronic pain that has interfered with their quality of life. Others simply seek stress relief, relaxation, and clarity. No matter what they bring to the table, my clients trust me to be caring, tactful, professional, and to put them at ease.
In twenty years and counting of sharing this work, I’ve had the honor of witnessing time and time again, the power of massage not just to “work out a few kinks”, but to bring about dramatic and lasting changes to the body and mind.
